European Youth Championship 2018 – Champion Band!

We won the 2018 European Youth Championship!

We did it at last! We are the 2018 European Youth Champion Band! After failing to lift this trophy for several years where we always came a very creditable second, at last we pulled it off and won this contest!  Representing England after winning the 2017 National Championships, our programme was Ye Morning Stars of Light by Andi Cook, then the test piece Chaucer's Tales by Michael Ball.  Next, our fantastic percussionist Sophie blew the audience and adjudicators away with The Tongs and the Bones by Derek Bourgeois. Our finale was the world premiere of a piece written especially for us by former Youth Brass 2000 player Paul McGee - The Long Way Home. It really was a truly memorable event for us! We had worked so incredibly hard for this contest, but the result fully justified all the work - and all the overnight coach travel!

Our win in Utrecht means we are now Youth Grand Slam Champions, having won the British Open, British National and European Youth Brass Band Championships!
